Sydney Thunder defeat Perth Scorchers by 7 wickets

Sydney Thunder defeated Perth Scorchers by a margin of seven wickets in a do-or-die clash on Sunday (Jan 26) at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) to stay alive in the qualifiers race! After this victory, Thunder are stationed at fifth position while Scorchers are knocked out of the tournament having finished at sixth position.

Having opted to bat first in a rain-marred game, Scorchers scored 99 for 4 in 15 overs courtesy an unbeaten 25-ball 35 from Cameron Bancroft. With another rain appearance, target was trimmed to 96 runs in 12 runs which Thunder chased down with seven wickets in hand and two balls to spare.

Thunder opener Alex Hales has been adjudged as the 'Player of the Match' for his 27-ball 47 which includes 4 fours and 2 sixes. With Scorchers already knocked out, Thunder now has to wait for the result of last round-robin game between Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades on Monday (Jan 27) to see their chances in the rest of the tournament.
