Melbourne Stars defeated Sydney Thunder by a margin of 28 runs on Thursday (Feb 06) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne to book a place in the Final alongside Sydney Sixers. With this recent development, the amazing journey of underdogs Sydney Thunder came to an end in this edition.
Having opted to bat first, Melbourne Stars posted a mammoth 194 for 2 on the board courtesy 83 runs apiece from Marcus Stoinis (83 off 54) and Nick Larkin (83* off 49). In reply, Sydney Thunder scored 166 for 8 to lose the game by 28 runs in the end.
Stars' player Nick Larkin has been adjudged as the 'Player of the Match' for his knock with the bat. The Final of this ninth edition of Big Bash League will now be played between Melbourne Stars and Sydney Sixers on Saturday (Feb 08) at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in Sydney.
