Sydney Thunder defeated Adelaide Strikers by a margin of 8 runs in the 'Knockout' game on Saturday (Feb 01) at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide to move to the 'Challenger' game with first placed Melbourne Stars! For the third time in a row, a team batting first has won in the BBL finals this season.
After being sent in to bat first, Sydney Thunder posted a competitive total of 151 for 7 courtesy a 35-ball 59 from opener Alex Hales. In reply, Adelaide Strikers are rolled out for 143 for 9 to concede a 9-run victory to Thunder who were written-off by almost everyone at the start of the tournament! Now they are just a step away from the big Final!
Ales Hales has been adjudged as the 'Player of the Match' for his fighting half-century at the top of the innings. With this victory, Sydney Thunder will play Melbourne Stars on Thursday (Feb 06) in the 'Challenger' game. The winner of the 'Challenger' game will meet Sydney Sixers in the BBL Final on Saturday (Feb 08) at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
