Australia have completely dominated this ODI series and by winning all the three games they have registered their 21st consecutive win in this format. A record which only Ricky Ponting's side achieved thus far in both Men's and Women's cricket combined! Let us relive the three-match ODI series between Australia Women and New Zealand.
ODI #1: Australia Women defeated New Zealand Women by a margin of 7 wickets
Australian captain Meg Lanning won the toss and opted to bowl first. Aussie bowlers backed the decision with a superb display as they cleaned up New Zealand for just 180 runs in 49.1 overs. In reply, Australia chased down the target with 7 wickets in hand and 16.2 overs to spare in their innings. Captain Meg Lanning (62* off 70) and opener Racheal Haynes (44 off 62) starred with the bat for Aussies.
ODI #2: Australia Women defeated New Zealand Women by a margin of 4 wickets
Australia won the toss again as they opted to bowl first! This time New Zealand put on a better show but the better enough with the bat scoring 252/9 in 50 overs. Sophie Devine (79 off 115) and Amy Satterthwaite (69 off 73) scored half-centuries each to help NZ to get past 250-mark! In reply, Australia chased down the target with 4 wickets in hand and 4.5 overs to spare. Captain Meg Lanning (101* off 96) scored an unbeaten century while Rachael Haynes (82 off 89) scored half-century.
ODI #3: Australia Women defeated New Zealand Women by a margin of 232 runs
Australia who were in search of their 21st consecutive ODI victory batted first and posted a mammoth total of 325/5 in 50 overs on the board. Both their openers Rachael Haynes (96 off 104) and Alyssa Healy (87 off 87) both scored half-centuries! In reply, New Zealand sans Suzie Bates succumbed to just 93 runs losing the match by a mammoth margin of 232 runs. Amy Satterthwaite (41 off 49) and Maddy Green (22 off 22) are the only players to get to double figures in this match.
Player of the Series: Rachael Haynes (Aus W)
There was a tough competition between Meg Lanning and Rachael Haynes for this award. But with Lanning rested for the third ODI, Haynes clearly got the advantage! Rachael Haynes scored 222 runs in three games while Lanning scored 163 runs in the first two ODIs without getting dismissed!
