Hosts Australia had won all the three ODIs in the series against New Zealand and with the victory in the final ODI, they have completed 21 consecutive wins in this format of the game! Only Australia men under the leadership of Ricky Ponting held this feat up until now in both Men's and Women's cricket.
Lanning has scored an unbeaten 62* and an unbeaten 101* in the first two ODIs of the series before being rested from the third ODI! Overall, it was a good outing for her with the bat in the series having scored 163 without being dismissed! Courtesy of these knocks, Lanning now moved up four places to No. 1 with 749 rating points.
Lanning displaced West Indies captain Stafanie Taylor (746 rating points) from the top position to regain the spot. On the other hand, Australian spinner Jess Jonassen (with 804 rating points) became the No. 1 ranked bowler in the ICC Women's Player Rankings. Even though Ellyse Perry missed the limited-overs series due to injury, she retained her No. 1 spot with 460 rating points in the All-rounder rankings.
