Except the toss which RCB won and opted to bowl, nothing went in favor of Virat Kohli and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in this game! Delhi openers provided an explosive start adding 68 runs for the first wicket, out of which Prithvi Shaw alone scored 42 runs! Marcus Stoinis once again starred with the bat as he composed yet another half-century this season - unbeaten 53* off 26 deliveries with 6 fours and 2 sixes!
Shikhar Dhawan (32 off 28) and Rishabh Pant (37 off 25) made valuable contributions as Delhi finished with a massive total of 196/4 in 20 overs. RCB's Washington Sundar once again bowled economically conceding just 20 runs in his 4 overs. On the other hand, RCB's two best bowlers Navdeep Saini (0/48 in 3 overs) and Yuzvendra Chahal (0/29 in 3 overs) did not bowl their full quota of 4 overs!
Royal Challengers fumbled in the chase as well losing both openers - Devdutt Padikkal (4 off 6) and Aaron Finch (13 off 14) - cheaply inside the powerplay. AB de Villiers (9 off 6) too departed in no time pushing them further into chaos! Captain Virat Kohli batted to keep the chase alive for a while but his slow strike rate and the timing of his wicket downed the curtains for RCB in this game!
RCB in the end got to 137/9 in 20 overs conceding a massive 59-run victory for Delhi Capitals! Among Delhi bowlers, Kagiso Rabada bagged four wickets while Axar Patel and Anrich Nortje bagged two wickets apiece. Ravichandran Ashwin bagged a sole wicket. Axar Patel bagged 'Player of the Match' award for his economical bowling figures (2/18 in 4 overs) despite bowling in the powerplay!
Brief Scores: Delhi Capitals - 196/4 in 20 overs (Marcus Stoinis - 53*, Prithvi Shaw - 42, Mohammad Siraj - 2/34, Isuru Udana - 1/40) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore - 137/9 in 20 overs (Virat Kohli - 43, Washington Sundar - 17, Kagiso Rabada - 4/24, Axar Patel - 2/18) by a margin of 59 runs
