All factors went in their favor in the first half but the second half turned out to be a horrible outing for the defending champions! Royals opener Ben Stokes starred with the bat. Sanju Samson starred with the bat. Rajasthan Royals defeated Mumbai Indians by a thumping margin of 8 wickets!

Having opted to bat first, Mumbai built their innings with a brilliant 83-run stand between Ishan Kishan (37 off 36) and Suryakumar Yadav (40 off 26). Saurabh Tiwary provided the support during the middle order with a quick-fire 34 off 25 with 4 fours and a six. And Hardik Pandya finished off things well helping Mumbai to score 79 runs from the last 5 overs! In fact, Hardik scored 52 runs from his last 12 deliveries as he remained unbeaten on 60* off 21 deliveries with 2 fours and 7 sixes. Courtesy of this magnificent hitting, Mumbai got to 195/5 in 20 overs.
During the chase, Rajasthan Royals lost two quick wickets inside powerplay to hand momentum to MI for a brief period of time! However, Ben Stokes (107* off 60) and Sanju Samson (54* off 31) batted brilliantly then to guide RR to a superb 8-wicket victory. The duo has shared an unbeaten 152*-run stand in this crucial victory. Chasing 196 to win, RR got to the target with 8 wickets in hand and 10 balls to spare in their innings. James Pattinson is Mumbai's only wicket-taker in Rajasthan's innings as he picked up both the wickets to fall in RR's innings.
Ben Stokes bagged the 'Player of the Match' award for his superb century with the bat in this high-scoring run chase. For the record, this is the second century for Stokes in this tournament - his first was unbeaten 103* (off 63 deliveries) against Gujarat Lions in IPL 2017 edition.
