Elton Chigumbura to retire after Pakistan series

Zimbabwe all-rounder Elton Chigumbura is all set to hang his boots in the international circuit following the ongoing Zimbabwe tour of Pakistan. He represented Zimbabwe in over 280 matches across formats amassing close to 5800 runs. Similar to his batting heroics, Chigumbura is also effective with the ball picking 138 wickets thus far across all the three formats. Moreover, he scored two centuries in the ODI format.

Zimbabwe are currently touring Pakistan for a three-match ODI series and a three-match T20I series. Despite losing the first two ODIs, Zimbabwe made a strong comeback to win the third ODI which went into a Super Over. Pakistan won the first of the three-match T20I series while the second T20I of the series is scheduled to be played on Sunday (Nov 08).

The decision to announce Chigumbura's retirement has been made public by the Zimbabwe Cricket Board on Saturday (Nov 07) via its twitter handle.

Chigumbura was also appointed as the captain of the Zimbabwean side but he did not have a successful run under the role. In the 80 matches he captained, Zimbabwe had won only 20 games losing the other 60 games.
