Sunday, Nov 08, 2020, Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi
A dream come true for Delhi Capitals (DC) as they comfortably overcome the challenge posed by Sun Risers Hyderabad (SRH) in the second Qualifier to make it to the IPL 2020 Final. For the record, this is the first time Delhi franchise, be it the Daredevils or Capitals, making it to the IPL Final. With this, all the eight teams that participated in the inaugural edition have made it to the IPL Final at lease once in the tournament! It took Delhi 13 years to make it to the Final but eventually they got there!

Having opted to bat first, Delhi Capitals put on a good 86-run partnership for the first wicket. With Prithvi Shaw out-of-form in the second half of the IPL 2020 season, Delhi decided to go in with Marcus Stoinis (38 off 27) and Shikhar Dhawan (78 off 50) as openers who were brilliant with the bat. Stoinis was dropped on 3 by Jason Holder off Sandeep Sharma's bowling and that proved out to be very costly for SRH in the end! Shimron Hetmyer who replaced pacer Daniel Sams in the XI scored an unbeaten 42* off just 22 deliveries which took Delhi to 189/3 in 20 overs.
Among SRH bowlers, Sandeep Sharma, Jason Holder and Rashid Khan bagged a wicket each. On the other hand, Shahbaz Nadeem conceded 48 runs from his 4 overs as he had to face the heat from Delhi opener Dhawan who hit lofted shots off the former's bowling for fun! Holder, though picked up a wicket, was expensive with the ball conceding 50 from his 4 overs!
During the chase, Delhi pacer Kagiso Rabada cleaned up SRH opener David Warner in just the second over and the Delhi dugout sensed a victory then and there itself! All the SRH batsmen batted with great intent but most of them failed to get going after getting a start. Kane Williamson (67 off 45) and Abdul Samad (33 off 16) played shots at will to take SRH home but in the end they fell short of the target by just 17 runs.
Among Delhi bowlers, Kagiso Rabada bagged 4 wickets while Marcus Stoinis bagged three wickets and Axar Patel accounted for a sole wicket. In the end, Sun Risers were restricted to 172/8 conceding Delhi a 17-run victory and a place in the Final! Kagiso Rabada bagged the 'Player of the Match' award for his 4-wicket haul and also the current 'Purple Cap' holder with 29 wickets.
Brief Scores: Delhi Capitals - 189/3 in 20 overs (Shikhar Dhawan - 78, Shimron Hetmyer - 42, Rashid Khan - 1/26, Sandeep Sharma - 1/30) defeated Sun Risers Hyderabad - 172/8 in 20 overs (Kane Williamson - 67, Abdul Samad - 33, Kagiso Rabada - 4/29, Marcus Stoinis - 3/26) by a margin of 17 runs
