Comfortable victory for Pakistan in the end as they triumphed against Zimbabwe by a margin of 6 wickets in the first of the three-match T20I series. Visitors after opting to bat first posted a competitive total courtesy a half-century from middle-order batsman Wesley Madhevere but Pakistan captain Babar Azam kept his cool to take Pakistan to a comfortable victory in the end!

Having opted to bat, Zimbabwe's innings circled around Wesley Madhevere who scored a fine unbeaten half-century - 70* off 48 deliveries with 9 fours and a six. Three other scores of 20s from Brendon Taylor (20 off 13), Sean Williams (25 off 24) and Elton Chigumbura (21 off 13) helped Zimbabwe post 156/6 in 20 overs. Among Pakistan bowlers, Haris Rauf and Wahab Riaz bagged two wickets each while Mohammad Hasnain and Usman Qadir bagged a wicket each.

In reply, Pakistan chased down the target with 6 wickets in hand and 7 balls to spare in their innings. Captain Babar Azam scored an half-century - 82 off 55 with 9 fours and a six, while others batted around him. Veteran Mohammad Hafeez (36 off 32, 3 fours, 1 six) too made a crucial contribution with the bat having involved in a 80-run stand for the third wicket with Babar Azam. Among Zimbabwe bowlers, Blessing Muzarabani bagged two wickets while Tendai Chatara and Richard Ngarava bagged a wicket each.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam bagged the 'Player of the Match' award for his crucial contribution with the bat that helped Pakistan take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The second T20I of this three-match series is also scheduled to be played at the same venue on Sunday (Nov 08).
