Saturday, Oct 31, 2020, Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah

In the game of arch-rivals, Sun Risers Hyderabad thrashed Royal Challengers Bangalore by a comfortable margin of 5 wickets in Sharjah! RCB might have won the first game between these sides earlier in the season but SRH had the last laugh winning this must-win encounter in Sharjah! Bowlers bowled well and batsmen completed the chase as it was a comfortable victory in the end for Sun Risers!

After being sent into bat first on this ground with shortest boundaries, RCB failed to impress with the bat! Opener Josh Philippe is their top scorer with 32 off 31 deliveries while only two of their other batsmen managed to get past the 20-run mark - AB de Villiers (24 off 24) and Washington Sundar (21 off 18)! RCB, in the end, only managed to score 120/7 in their 20 overs, their lowest total in IPL 2020 batting first!

Among SRH bowlers, Sandeep Sharma and Jason Holder bagged two wickets each while Natarajan, Rashid Khan and Shabaz Nadeem bagged a wicket each. Sandeep’s two wickets in this match include the wicket of RCB captain Virat Kohli who dismissed him for the record seventh time in this tournament! Zaheer Khan is the only other bowler in IPL to dismiss a batsman (MS Dhoni) 7 times besides Sandeep!

During the chase, SRH lost five wickets but chased down the target eventually! Wriddhiman Saha (39 off 32) and Manish Pandey (26 off 19) shared a 50-run partnership for the second wicket while Jason Holder’s cameo (26* not out off 10 deliveries, 1 four, 3 sixes) helped SRH chase down the target in just the 15th over! Sandeep Sharma bagged the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his bowling figures of 2/20 in his 4 overs.

With this thumping victory, Sun Risers Hyderabad moved to the fourth position of the points table with 12 points. Mumbai have already qualified for the playoffs while CSK were already eliminated! With RCB losing this game, all the remaining six teams are in contention of securing a playoff berth with only one league match remaining for each team in the IPL 2020 season.

Brief Scores: Sun Risers Hyderabad - 121/5 in 14.1 overs (Wriddhiman Saha - 39, Jason Holder - 26*, Yuzvendra Chahal - 2/19, Isuru Udana - 1/20) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore - 120/7 in 20 overs (Josh Phillippe - 32, AB de Villiers - 24, Sandeep Sharma - 2/20, Jason Holder - 2/27) by a margin of 5 wickets
