"I actually would have kept Green with the new ball"

Australia may have lost their new-ball bowler to a side strain and they may be needing another to take up the mantle in the Day-Night Test match at Adelaide. Former Australian Damien Fleming thinks that they can promote all-rounder Cameron Green to do the job who has an amazing skill of bowling outswingers.

The outswinger with which Green dismissed in-form England captain Joe Root on Day 4 at Gabba impressed Fleming as he thinks that Green can bowl the same outswingers with a newer ball.

"With an 85-over ball, he bowls a picture-perfect outswinger to the number one batsman in the world and nicks him off. I actually would have kept Green with the new ball. “6’7 over 140 kilometres an hour and he bowls an outswinger," stated Damien Fleming after Australia's 9-wicket victory at Gabba.

"I don’t think we used him well last year, we bowled him with an old ball and he was generally told to bowl short. You can fill a role doing that but his big X-Factor is he’s got the outswinger and we know that’s deadly, particularly at the top level," added Fleming.

Australia won the first Ashes Test match at Gabba by a 9-wicket margin. The second Test match will be a Day-Night Test match which is to be played at Adelaide Oval beginning on Thursday (Dec 16).
