England are reeling at 59/4 at the end of the first session on Day 1 at the Gabba. It was a pretty good recovery after scoring just 24 runs in the first hour while losing 3 wickets. Here are all the wickets England lost in the first session on Day 1:

Rory Burns:

Wicket off the very ball of the match! A dream start for Mitchell Starc and Australia. Starc was under pressure going into this Test match but he answered with a first-ball wicket! Rory Burns is only the second England opener after Alastair Cook at WACA in 2013 to be dismissed on the first ball of an Ashes Test match in Australia!

Dawid Malan:

Malan could have left it alone but instead pokes at it to lose his wicket! As a top-order player, the main task would be to see off the new ball but Malan poked at 7 out of the 9 deliveries and eventually lost his wicket! Not a great start to his Ashes campaign!

Joe Root:

A beauty of a delivery from Josh Hazlewood gets rid of the England captain Joe Root, caught at first slip by David Warner! Hazlewood set him up with some tight line and length and eventually got the big fish! With the kind of form, Root is in this year with the bat, this was a great wicket for Australia!

Ben Stokes:

With wickets all over in the first hour, Ben Stokes chose the defending option for most part of his knock! However, Australia's new Test captain Pat Cummins delivered a peach of a delivery that did exactly what Australia would have hoped for! Marnus Labuschagne takes a diving catch at the third slip to get rid of dangerous Stokes!

Despite winning the toss and opting to bat first, England put themselves under a lot of pressure losing their first two wickets in a very vague manner! They need huge partnerships going from here to post a competitive total on the board!
