This will be the second consecutive year Ireland will be touring West Indies for limited-overs series! During the 2020 tour, West Indies clean swept the 3-match ODI series while the 3-match series was shared 1-1 with the other game washed out by rain.
“We are looking forward to welcoming Ireland back to the West Indies in January. They last visited the Caribbean in 2020 and we had some exciting encounters, so we can anticipate a competitive series to start the new year,” said Johnny Grave, Cricket West Indies CEO.
West Indies veteran Chris Gayle is yet to announce his retirement from International Cricket and is hoping to play one last time in front of his home crowd! He stated this just after West Indies' unfortunate exit from the T20 World Cup in UAE.
"I'd love to play one more World Cup. But I don't think they will allow me. I didn't announce any retirement but they actually give me one game in Jamaica to go in front of my home crowd, then I can say 'hey guys, thank you so much. Let's see. If not, I'll announce it a long time and then I'll be joining DJ Bravo in the backend and say thanks to each and everyone but I can't say that as yet," said Chris Gayle after West Indies exit from the T20 World Cup in UAE.
The squad was not selected yet but it would be a great honor if the legend gets his final hurrah at the international level! Only time will tell! West Indies are currently in Pakistan touring for 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs which will be played from 13th December to 22nd December in Karachi.
