UAE hand Singapore 2nd straight loss in Asia Cup Qualifiers

Muhammad Waseem's half-century and Karthik Meriyappan's bowling effort helped the United Arab Emirates comfortably defeat Singapore in the 3rd match of the Asia Cup Qualifiers. This is the second consecutive defeat for Singapore while UAE registered their first victory in this year's tournament!

Toss Update: Singapore won the toss and opted to field first.

After being sent into bat first, United Arab Emirates scored 160 runs on the board losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. Opener Muhammad Waseem scored a half-century while Basil Hameed in the middle order contributed with 38 runs. Janak Prakash was the pick of Singapore bowlers with a 3-wicket haul.

Singapore, chasing 161 runs to win, managed to score just 113 runs losing 10 wickets in 18.3 overs. Opener Aritra Dutta scored 42 runs but there was very little contribution at the other end. Karthik Meriyappan (3/13) and Junaid Siddique (3/14) bowled economically for the UAE.

Match result: United Arab Emirates defeated Singapore by a margin of 47 runs.

Karthik Meriyappan has been adjudged as the Player of the Match for his crucial contribution of 3-13 from his 4 overs.
