Pathum Nissanka and bowlers helped Sri Lanka comfortably defeat U.A.E in the 6th match of the First round of the T20 World Cup 2022 edition. It was a much-needed victory for Sri Lanka as they lost the first match to Namibia by 55 runs and are in dire need of a huge NRR bonus!

After being sent into bat first, Sri Lanka scored 152 runs on the board losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. Pathum Nissanka top-scored for them with 74 runs from 60 deliveries but the star of the first innings was UAE's Karthik Meiyappan who bagged a hat-trick dismissing Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Charith Asalanka, and captain Dasun Shanaka in three consecutive deliveries!
U.A.E, chasing 153 runs to win, managed to score 73 losing 10 wickets in 17.1 overs. No application with the bat made UAE succumb to such a huge defeat in this match! The 17-run stand for the 10th wicket was the highest partnership for them in this match! This speaks a lot about their struggles with the bat in this innings!
